Better Living with Chemicals

     Way back when there was a slogan "Better Living Through Chemistry" It was started by DuPont to tout the wonderful things possible through chemical additives, fertilizers, herbicides, you name it. We liked it. Our crops were mostly pest-free and huge! Our food actually looked better, more colorful. 

     When you hear RFK Jr. mentioned, you think one of two things.  Either you think he's a rabid anti-vaxxer who's gonna take away your polio shots. Or you might hold some hope as I choose to do, that maybe, just maybe, he will get rid of some of the additives and CHEMICALS in our food and in or bodies. Hate the man or not. He's NOT gonna take away the polio vaccine or anything else. That's just what big Pharma want you to believe. They've tainted our bodies for generations. Don't let them taint your mind. It has always seemed to me that the chemical companies that make these harmful/helpful chemical compounds had a somewhat cozy relationship with the very government agencies that were responsible for regulating their products. Often appointments were made of former executives "who brought "a wealth of experience in the pharmaceutical industry" to their new position in the FDA.  Hmmm. Ok . Or perhaps some of these people bring knowledge of dangers within the products of their "former employers" and can help keep this knowledge from becoming public. I think we can all agree this issue goes beyond politics. No one wants to willingly ingest poison. Unfortunately we really can't prevent it, if we want to eat, that is. 

Consider these fine examples:

FOREVER CHEMICALS aka PFAS

     It this wasn't so tragic, it'd be funny. Back in the 1970s sewage treatment plants began offering treated sewage called "sludge" to the public and even our farmers in every state but Hawaii. My next door neighbor used to shovel it on his veggies. It was great fertilizer. All we considered was that it was treated human poop in plain English. Cow manure was great. How bad could our own be? So for decades virtually every farmer in the country has applied this to their crops with excellent results!  Except the treatment plants can't get rid of those nasty heavy metals and PFAS. It turns out this marvelous almost magical  fertilizer also contained a toxic soup of heavy metals and poisonous chemical waste illegally dumped down drains and into local septic systems. So we are eating food grown with toxic waste! It is now in  all aspects of the food supply even animal feed. So much for the health benefits of raising your own chickens. The CDC recently estimated that these "forever chemicals" are in 97% of Americans, including our precious little ones! There is NOTHING that can be done to undo this. They have effectively poisoned a generation. They have ALTERED AMERICAN HUMANITY! And we've all got micro plastics in our brains,
Like I said, if this wasn't so sad, so downright tragic and criminal, it'd be funny.

BETTER LIVING WITH CHEMICALS? 

    I used to work with a woman whose husband worked for one of the big drug companies. His job was a chemist studying the effects of birth control medicines in treated water from sewage plants, water that is generally released into rivers,(because that's where waste goes). They found that the hormonal ingredients, that stop human reproduction from happening each month were escaping treatment at wastewater or sewage plants. The technology in use at plants removes human created waste - urine and fecal matter, NOT MEDICINE. They noticed frogs changing from male to female. Never mind a related study of other compounds found frogs, the harbinger of environmental disaster, with six legs or two heads.

BETTER LIVING WITH CHEMICALS? 

    Near the top of any harmfully helpful chemicals list should always be a wonderous chemical compound known as glyphosate. Cool stuff that stops weeds dead. I used it on my flower garden but NEVER on my veggies! It's POISON! Says it all over the label. I also unknowingly fed this most potent herbicide to my kids and so did you, probably. One of the first foods kids ate back then, starting when they were babies, was that delightful O-shaped cereal. It was one of their first "finger foods." You could pour a small handful on the tray of your kids' high chair so they could snack on these while you made breakfast. I would never ever have done this willingly. But the better living with chemical people took this choice to NOT feed my kids poison, away from you and me.  They apparently think it is perfectly safe to spray our wheat with this crap RIGHT BEFORE HARVEST! This is not a pesticide meant to combat pests. It is a poison meant to kill the plant, right before we eat the flour made from it. YUM! Shades of "Agent Orange" where The chemical companies were also a great help eliminating southeast Asian jungles by literally raining similar poisonous herbicides from the skies on the jungles and those that lived there. See, they've discovered if they spray this on wheat, yeah it poisons the crop, but before those plants die, they double their production of wheat kernels - a last gasp effort to keep their strain alive. It's now in EVERYTHING from bread, to pasta, wine and the aforementioned breakfast food. Bon appetit!

HOW 'BOUT THOSE CHEMICALS?

     Hydration is almost my middle name or a daily survival "mantra" for everyday life, thanks to different meds that work by dehydrating you. I try to be healthy and drink just distilled water, because, like it or not, there are toxic chemicals including heavy metals and PFAS in our no longer pristine aquifers and springs. And NOW thanks to the "better living" people we have a chemical compound called pseudo-estrogen in our water bottles. You know; those wonderfully recycled chemical plastic bottles that eliminated vastly healthier (and heavier) glass because broken glass was washing up on our beaches.  Click the link below just to see the search results and learn more. Remember the hundreds of pallets of emergency bottled water left on the runway in Puerto Rico after a hurricane? All contaminated.

     Now if this doesn't scare the hell out of you about drinking something as "natural" as spring water, then maybe nothing will. And here's another kick in the ass. Water is more expensive than gasoline!

Or how about that beautiful Red dye #3? Findings in the 1990's showed it caused cancer in mice. A study in 2007 showed a link to hyperactivity and symptoms that mimicked ADHD. It's been banned in other countries. It was only just recently banned here. Go Chemical companies! Enjoy those profits!

     And NOW thanks to CHEMICALS we have a new disease!! This is a BIG PHARMA WET DREAM! First they come out with a new additive or chemical that seems to be in many medicines to "help" deal with various medical problems. It's a delightful little thing that mimics petit mal epilepsy and then some. It's called Tardive dyskinesia
